Storage at NSC

Here you will find information about the various storage systems at NSC.

Large-scale data handling at NSC is here taken to mean any substantial storage solution or service handling data in the range of hundreds of TB to PB.

NSC has both disk-based and tape-based large-scale storage solutions in operation since 2007.

Our high-bandwith disk storage is called center storage and it is based on Lustre and GPFS. This is cluster-mounted storage which is now in the petabyte range in size and may contain up to 100 active servers. It us used by the Triolith cluster and the SMHI forecast and researeh systems.

Other disk-based solutions serve the SweStore project and the NDGF Tier 1 storage needs and are built on dCache and iRODS technology (which is nowadays also used by SMHI). The approximate amount of the data is 3,400 TB and 1,000 TB respectively.
