The ECMWF GRIB API is an application program interface accessible from C, FORTRAN and Python programs developed for encoding and decoding WMO FM–92 GRIB edition 1 and edition 2 messages. A useful set of command line tools is also provided to give quick access to GRIB messages. grib_api is built by NSC following the ECMWF documentation. The grib_api installations are generally maintained by Hamish Struthers at NSC. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you have problems with our grib_api installation.
NSC will install new grib_api versions only if someone requests them. If you need a new version, contact email@example.com.
Load the grib_api module corresponding to the version you want to use, e.g
module load grib_api/1.9.16-build1
Binaries included in grib_api (e.g grib_ls) are now available in your search path. The environment variable GRIB_API_DIR is also set to the installation directory, so if you want to link against grib_api you can do e.g
icc -I $GRIB_API_DIR/include -L $GRIB_API_DIR/lib
