Collaboration and Coordination

According to Ian Foster [1], A Grid is a system that

• coordinates resources that are not subject to centralized control
• using standard, open, general-purpose protocols and interfaces
• to deliver nontrivial qualities of service.

To keep a unified view of resources to users, we need some coordination.
Still, resource providers should retain their autonomity.

Other resources are welcome to be included.

Has to agree on middleware instead of protocols and APIs.

Addition services that need coordination:

• user support
• resource allocation
• maintenance and monitoring.
