Subject: NA Digest, V. 06, # 32 From: "Kreinovich, Vladik" Date: Mon, 31 Jul 2006 17:17:04 -0600 Subject: Interval software from Intel Dear intervallers and those who use interval methods in real applications, I want to inform the interval community about new Interval Software from Intel Co. The fact that Intel Co. develops pure interval library tells that interval analysis becomes more and more popular in real applications and allows to solve wide class of real problems. So, there is interval library in Intel Math Kernel Library which includes interval arithmetic (standard and two complex) and the set of unique interval linear solvers. The solvers computes enclosures, either sharp or fast, of the solution set to interval linear systems of equations, check properties of interval matrices; some part of the solvers works with complex intervals. Everyone knows that most of interval problems is NP-hard and because of that the interval routines have high level of optimization (both algorithmically and low-level) which provides rather good performance. In the future, we have a plan to make, from the interval library, a kind of "Interval LAPACK". Everyone can try the library for free - free version of MKL may be downloaded from the page http://www.intel.com/cd/software/products/asmo-na/eng/perflib/mkl/index.htm You can put your questions or suggestions what you want to see in the library onto MKL forum at http://softwareforums.intel.com/ISN/Community/en-US/forums/1273/ShowForum.aspx Alexander Bondar Intel MKL Team Novosibirsk, Russia -------------------------------------------------------
