Nmag installations at NSC


This is an untested installation! NSC recommends that you proceed with caution and report any problems to support@nsc.liu.se.

Level of support

Tier 3 NSC will not be able to help you much with this program, either because we lack the in-house experience, or because it is a test installation. In general, these types of installations are untested, and will not be updated unless you send a request to NSC.

How to run

Example of how to run the serial version from a batch script:

#!/bin/bash

#SBATCH --time=30
#SBATCH --ntasks=1
#SBATCH --account=account_string

module load nmag/0.2.1

nsim sphere1.py
#END OF BATCH SCRIPT

Example of how to run the MPI parallel version on one compute node in a batch script:

#!/bin/bash

#SBATCH --time=30
#SBATCH --ntasks=8
#SBATCH --nodes=1
#SBATCH --account=account_string

module load nmag/0.2.1

mpd &
sleep 10
mpiexec -n 8 nsim bar30_30_100.py
#END OF BATCH SCRIPT

You will need to create a .mpd.conf file in order to start mpd. Please see the instructions here: http://nmag.soton.ac.uk/nmag/current/manual/singlehtml/manual.html#document-example_mpi1/doc

Remember to change account_string to the string for the project that you want to charge the job to. If you are only included in one project, then you don’t need this line at all.

NOTE: The nmag module also loads the gcc/4.7.2 module, because nmag depends on gcc for some on-the-fly compilation.
