Apply for time on NSC's supercomputers
Researchers linked to any Swedish academic institution
may apply for time on NSC's supercomputers. Currently NSC considers four
categories of applications: large scale projects, medium scale projects, small scale projects, and
LiU projects.
-
Large Scale Projects: Applications for large scale projects are
handled by SNAC, the Swedish National Allocation Committee for HPC resources.
Calls for applications to SNAC are issued twice a year, in April and October,
resulting in allocations effective from January 1 and July 1 respectively.
A large scale project can run for 6 or 12 months. For more information
regarding SNAC, large scale projects, the limits for large scale projects
and the large scale project application form, see the
SNIC web site and
especially the
instructions for large scale applications.
To apply, go to
SNAC's Application System, SUPR.
-
Medium Scale Projects: Applications for medium scale allocations on
SNIC resources are handled locally at the centres. Applications may be submitted
at any time during the year. The duration of medium scale projects is up to 12
months. For more information regarding medium scale projects and the limits
for medium scale projects, see the
SNIC web site and
especially the
instructions for medium scale applications.
To apply, go to
SNAC's Application System and choose the currently open medium scale round.
-
Small Scale Projects: Individual researchers who do not have the need
for a large or medium scale project, but still need access to supercomputers
for testing and/or development, can apply for a small scale project. The limit
for such project allocations are a maximum of
5000 core hours/month. Small Scale projects are normally initially valid for one
year and can be renewed by an e-mail to
support@nsc.liu.se.
To apply for a small scale project at NSC use the
project application function in the user portal NSC Express
to apply for a project of type "SNAC Small". The abstract should contain a
short scientific description together with a technical description of software,
memory, disk, etc requirements.
-
LiU Projects: NSC has resources dedicated to users from Linköpings universitet.
To apply for a project with allocation of such resources use the
project application function in the user portal NSC Express
to apply for a project of type "LiU Local". The abstract should contain a
short scientific description together with a technical description of software,
memory, disk, etc requirements. LiU Local projects are normally initially valid
for one year and can be renewed by an e-mail to
support@nsc.liu.se.
-
NSC Express is our new user portal.
Some of the things you can do in NSC Express:
- Register yourself as a new NSC user
- Apply for membership in projects
- Apply for login accounts on NSC systems
- Manage your projects (for Principal Investigators)
- View job accounting (e.g core hours used by your projects)
- Apply for small scale and LiU local projects
- Change your contact information (email, phone etc.)
- Subscribe to the NSC newsletter
Other features will be added to NSC Express later.
Please note that NSC Express replaces the paper forms Add New Members and User Agreement. However, NSC still requires users to complete and sign a user agreement available from within NSC Express, if they require an account on an NSC system.
-
FAQ for new NSC users. This describes the process from registering a new user to logging into your first NSC supercomputer.
-
Deregistration: Individual researchers who dot not have a need
for NSC resources anymore should deregister using the
Deregistration form.
