The HPC Technology Roadmap: Status Report 4 (June 13, 2001)

The HPC Technology Roadmap Study has started to perform interviews with HPC vendors, regarding hardware architectures 5-10 years from now. Until now we have interviewed Dr. Martin Walker (Compaq) and Dr. Wolfgang Mertz (sgi). These interviews has been very interesting, and promising for the forthcoming report. Five interviews remains (SUN, IBM, Cray, NEC and Fujitsu), and will be performed in the next couple of weeks.

In conjunction with the interviews some of the vendors give a public seminar on the future of HPC. The seminars are presented within a seminar series "Supercomputing Today and Tomorrow", please see www.nsc.liu.se/rd/enacts/seminars.html. The response to the seminars has been very positive this far.
