Abstract

We are working with a small GPCR protein complex that we want to structurally determine by Cryo-EM. Since this is a small membrane protein it comes with additional challenges compared to the average Cryo-EM data processing both due to the size of the protein and the fact that it needs a hydrophobic environment at all times that then needs to be subtracted during the processing. Therefore, we were recently granted support from NBIS/SciLifeLab to collaboratively work on this project so we can approach the data processing from different angles and figure out what works best for this type of data. The goal of the project is to get a publishable structure of the GPCR complex. In addition, we have several similar projects in the research group so a second goal is to also establish a workflow that can be applied on all projects with only minor modifications which will lead to much faster data processing in the future.
