Abstract

Food webs represent species and their feeding interactions in a set area, commonly delimited by regional boundaries or distinct habitats. Analyzing patterns of how the species interact is a widespread approach used to obtain information regarding food webs’ stability and functionality. The group model is a community detection method, which identifies groups of species, in which species share similar sets of predators and prey from other groups. In this project, we analyze the network properties of the group structure in different food webs, and how the group structure relates to various ecological properties of the food webs.
