Abstract

This project will investigate optical frequency combs in nonlinear microresonators with feedback architecture. The combined effects of temporal dispersion, Kerr nonlinearity, damping and driving allows a wide variety of different dynamical behaviors such as modulational instabilities, periodic and localized solutions as well as chaos. The evolution of the combs will be modeled using envelope equations for the intra-cavity field based on both Lugiato-Lefever models and an Ikeda map approach. Parallel processing will be used for making large scale parameter sweeps to match simulations with experimental results.
