The course is designed to give a broad overview of the concept of grid computing and state-of-the-art grid software, understanding and practical experience of how computational grids can be used to further research in science and technology, and to review some current and future directions of grid computing research and development.
Students are expected to have extensive programming experience in a Unix environment.
This is a course within the National Graduate School in Scientific Computing (NGSSC), funded by SSF. The course is aimed at NGSSC students, but will also admit a limited number of other students.
This course is held jointly by the national computing centers NSC, HPC2N, and PDC.
