2001-11-12 The numerical and statistical serial NAG libraries on the SGI 3800 have been upgraded to Mark 19 for the Fortran 77 library (the same version as on the T3E) and Release 4 for the Fortran 90 library. Slightly modified addresses are required to access them.
2001-11-09 NSC:s T3E is now the top 339th computer in the world according to the Top 500 List and number 3 in Sweden. The top in Sweden is a Sun with 896 processors at Defense in Stockholm, at number 70, and number 2 in Sweden is an IBM at Pulsen, at number 257 in the world.
2001-11-28 The software on the SGI 3800 to be upgraded 29 November.

2000-03-29 The SGI Onyx2 computer Lustig was down Wednesday March 29 from 07:00 until 18:00, due to hardware maintenance of the cooling system.
2000-03-29 Due to memory board replacement C90 was down from 10:00 until 14:00 Wednesday 29 March. All running jobs were checkpointed and restarted when the system was available.
2000-03-28 If you are storing files on the T3E area /nsc/home/ please remove as much as possible since we are running out of space. You may also move the files to /nsc/stor/.
2000-03-13 Three job opportunities at NSC.
2000-03-13 The C90 and its disks will be reconfigured on Thursday 16 March during the regular service. Any job that is running but is not finished at 16:00 will be killed and may not be restarted. Please avoid submitting long jobs before this reconfiguration has been done.

1999-02-02 We wish to remind that the system sometimes sends email with important system information to the users on the C90 and T3E. We recommend that you forward mail on the Cray:s automatically to your regular mailbox. This used to be difficult but it is now very simple. Just put a file .forward with your complete email address into your login-directory on each Cray.
1999-01-29 NAG has been updated to Mark 18 on the T3E.
1999-01-26 The new low priority queue univ.lp has been established for university users who have spent all the allotted time for the present month. Applies to both C90 and T3E. The queue was renamed bonus on March 1.
1999-01-26 On Thursday January 28 the telecommunications (including data transfer) to and from SAAB and the Cray's will be broken between 00:00 and 01:00 due to updating.
1999-01-22 ARPACK has been installed on the Cray C90. It is a collection of Fortran 77 subroutines to solve large scale eigenvalue problems.
1999-01-19 Due to maintenance of the external power supply the T3E will be unavailable on Saturday 23 January from 06:30 until 16:00. The C90 will be in operation!
1999-01-15 The four application processors on the T3E which were converted 1998-11-05 into command processors have been reconverted into application processors. The desired better interactive performance has now been achieved through changing some parameters.

1998-04-28 XLotto, a distributed X windows tool for monitoring batch queues, processes, and PE usage on a Cray T3E computer. It can be run either directly on the T3E or locally on your computer. With XLotto installed locally, there is no need to log into the T3E only for checking the status.

The role of algorithms in applications
1997-09-10 Secure Shell ssh is installed as client on both C90 and T3E, located in /usr/local/bin. It can be used from any of the Cray:s to a computer with ssh installed as server.

Inauguration

The NSC computers C90 and T3E were inaugurated on Wednesday 27th August 1997 by Communications Secretary Ines Uusmann.
