Vendor Track
The seminar room for vendor track presentation
is located just next to the main auditorium for the
LCSC technical track.
Lunches will be served in the restaurant on
ground floor in Collegium. Coffee and tea will be served
outside the auditorium in the exhibition area during
breaks.

Vendor Track Abstracts
Red Hat - predictable Linux, present and future
Jad Hedström, Red Hat
Red Hat has risen as the major commercial vendor of Open Source
operating systems and additional software like the GFS cluster file
system. Our aim is to produce and support the most reliable,
predictable Linux distribution available. Jan Hedström, Solutions
Architect with Red Hat, will discuss Red Hat's current offerings, and
briefly inform about the most important changes planned for our next
major release, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4.

High Performance Computing: 64 bits hardware and Grid Computing
M. L. Quiroga Teixeiro, Gridcore
Gridcore is a Swedish company devoted to the development of Linux
based Computing Farms for Technical and Scientific applications.
Gridcore develops its environments mainly on the x86-64 computing
platform including: the whole hardware design and installation, system
design, load balancing and integration of applications.
During the last year Gridcore has been working on the Grid enabling
of its computational portal Gcportal. Some demonstrations are shown
including Grid enabled workflow software.
Computer Platforms for Scientific Research
- One size does not fit all
Carl G. Tengwall, IBM
A lot of emphasis in projecting the future of for high performance
computing has centered around interpreting Moore's Law. The basis for
Gordon Moore's Conjecture was the observation of device scaling in
microelectronics. This mechanism has served the computer industry and
users well for 40 years but now the game is visibly changing. IBM
introduced its multi core Power4 chip in 2001 and now the entire
industry seems to echo the benefits of this approach. This talk will
give an overview of the limits to scaling and will cover the responses
to this in the IBM product portfolio when it comes to high performance
computing.

Nexsan lagringslösningar
Nexsan
InfiniBand Overview - The Reality of the Paradigm Shift
John Asher, Voltaire
Jakob Sandgren, South Pole AB
InfiniBand is rapidly becoming the standard interconnect for high
performance clusters. John Asher, Voltaire, will cover InfiniBands
current status and development dircetions and give some examples of
usage in clusters and storage environments.
Jakob Sandgren from South Pole will conclude the talk with some example
InfiniBand configurations and other cluster components from South Pole.
FPGA Superclusters for extreme performance
Martin Olsson, Synective Labs
Large-scale arrays of FPGA devices are rapidly becoming an
attractive alternative to large conventional computer clusters, with
cost-to-performance improvement of a factor 10 to 100. The
considerably more compact and power-efficient solutions make
Reconfigurable Computing not only the economical alternative, but also
an enabler for computing solutions otherwise not realistic in
commercial and industrial environments. Martin Olsson will present the
cons and pros of re-configurable computing in general and Synective
Labs CNP 2.0, an off-the-shelf FPGA-based supercluster for HPC.
SATA disk, utmanaren i snabba RAID
diskarna.
I vår lilla utställning i anslutning till konferansen,
visar vi förutom en våra RAID även den nya 1U-servern
från Sun Microsystems som är baserad på AMD Opteron.
Sun Processor strategy for HPC
Börje Lindh, Sun
This short talk will explain where Sun stands today, and what
direction we are taking to fulfil the compute needs for the High
Performance Computing market.
